Horeke Loop Ride (Short Course) 9km
This section is flat and easy to ride with parts of the course on Horeke Road
suitable for all riding levels
A 9km ride / walk / run along Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail – starting from Horeke School, Motukiore Road, Horeke – – Horeke 9km Trail Map
The ride / walk / run will start at 9:30am. Registration opens at 8:30am.
9 km from Horeke School to (Mangungu Mission Station). Cyclists will travel along Horeke Road onto the boardwalk and then back onto Horeke Rd finishing with a powhiri onto Mangungu Mission Station.
NZ road rules apply at all times during the event. Cyclists/pedestrians must keep left and not cross the center line on public roads. Helmets are compulsory.
NO – Road Closure
The roads will not be closed. The cycle trail is still open to other recreation users and all public roads are open.
There are possibilities of emergency vehicles on the course. Cyclists/pedestrians must give way to Emergency Response Vehicles.
Marshals will be located at various points along the course. All marshals will be wearing high visibility vests.
Toilets are located at Horeke School, Horeke Community Hall and Mangungu Mission Station.
Water stations will be located at: outside Horeke Fire Station.
Registration will be set up at Horeke School (near the carpark).
Parking is available in Okaihau and designated parking areas in Horeke.
The event finishes with a powhiri (welcome) at Mangungu Mission Station (3km past Horeke township) at 10:30am. This road is open to traffic at all times and road rules apply.
Prizegiving will be held at the Mangungu Mission Station.
There will be food stalls along the route in Horeke so please bring change with you. Participants are welcome to join in Horeke Regatta activities on the day.
